Series of 50 images – 2012
A digital camera records 10 seconds absolute darkness. When viewing this video you see a completely black screen, the image bears no visible information.
With digital long-time-exposure all the frames are layered over each other and mathematically added together.
10 sec x 25 frames / sec = 250 frames
The result is an abstract image. This image information is con- tained in each image that is taken with this camera, just many times weaker (factor 250).
This phantom-image is a “bug” that is indeed so low that it is actually not visible, but is contained in each picture. It could be understand as a digital fingerprint or as an individual attribute of each camera.
Even cameras of the same type and range are different.
